ADAB-ADAB MENYAMBUT ‘ID (HARI RAYA)

How many holidays are celebrated in Islam?

There are only two Eids, namely Eid al-Fitr (Eid al-Fitr) on the 1st of Shawwal and Eid al-Adha on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah. The discussion is a hadith narrated by Enes ra; When the Prophet (as) came from Madinah (after Hijra), the people of Madinah had a great celebration for two days and welcomed him with games. The king asked them; "What day do you welcome?" They answered; "We welcomed him (playing) for two days in the time of ignorance." The Prophet saw a feast for them;

قَدْ أَبْدلَكمُ الله بِهِمَا خَيْراً منهما: يومَ الإضحى ويْمَ الْفر
"Verily, Allah has replaced for you two days better than two days, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Fitr.

Why is the holiday called 'id (العيد) in Arabic?

Al-Id (العِيْد) is part of the word al-Aud (العَوْد) which means return. The holiday is so called because it returns every year (ie, again and again) or because every year with the coming of the holiday the joy will come again.

What circumcision is done on the eve of the holiday?

Spend the two nights of Eid (ie, Fitra and Qurban) in worship, whether these prayers are circumcision, reading the Qur'an, reciting dhikr, etc. he is circumcised to be resurrected. Because there are hadiths that the Prophet respected holidays;

"Whoever wakes up on the night of Fitr and Kurban Bayram, surely his heart will not die on the day of death, be careful." (The story of Ubadah ra imam al-Tabrani)

The death of the heart means the connection of the heart with the world. Some say it means being unfaithful. There are some that make sense; fear of disaster

In addition, it is recommended to increase the number of prayers on the eve of Eid, because the prayer offered on that night is effective. Imam Syafiu in his book "al-Umm" said; "It became clear to us that this was not the case; "Verily, prayer in five nights is virtuous. The night of Friday, the night of sacrifice, the night of Fitra, the first night of Rajab and the night of Nisfu Shaban. (Mughni al-Muhtaj, vol. 1, p. 426, al-Majhmu', 5/ 47).

Is it necessary to fast on holidays?

Fasting on holidays, whether it is Eid al-Fitr or the Day of Sacrifice, is prohibited. Because the holiday is a day of eating and drinking. There is a hadith of Abu Hurairah (ra);

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ -صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلمَ-: نَهَىَ عهَىَ عَنِي ِيِيِيِيْ
"Truly, God prevented the messenger from fasting for two days; Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Fitr" (The Story of the Muslim Imam).

What activities are done during the holidays?

1. Waiting for the holiday with takbeer and praising God

On Hari Raya, we are encouraged to praise God fervently by saying takbir, analysis, tahmid and tasbih. The words of the prophet;

God bless you
"You decorate the two holidays with analysis, takbir, tahmid and dedication". (Narrated by Abu Naim from Anas, may God be pleased with him)

It is a sign that the holidays in Islam are not days of fun and entertainment, but to glorify God and convey religious symbols.

There are two types of takbirs in Eid;

a) Takbir Mursal or Muthlak (المسرل و المتلق) is an informal takbir that is recited loudly in main streets, mosques, bazaars, houses, etc., day and night.

b) Takbir Mukayed (المقيد) which is the takbir said during prayer.

We will describe both types of takbeers in a separate heading at the end.

2. Making the sun

Since Hari Raja is Jeum az-Zinah, ie. the adornment of the day, the taking of the Hari Raya bath is circumcised, even though there is no desire to participate in the Eid prayer gathering. This ritual bath is based on the practice of a friend of Imam Malik, which was transmitted by Nafiti.

Keep
"Verily, Ibn Umar used to perform ghusl on the day of Fitra before going out in the morning." (The story of Imam Malik in Al-Muwatta. According to Imam Nawawi; this atsar is sahih)

The same goes for washing on Friday. In addition to washing, circumcision includes cutting the hair or shaving, trimming the nails, removing body odor and clothing. According to Imam Ibn Rushd; The Sunnah is ijma'ulak to bathe in Hari Raja. (See: Bidayatul-mujtahid, vol. 1, p. 283).

When is it shower time?

Entering the time of the circumcision bath is at midnight. Imam al-Muzani; "I like to perform the ghusl of this holiday after dawn" (al-Majhmu, 10/5).

3. You smell nice and wear new clothes.

According to the hadith narrated by Rasulullah's grandson, Hasan ibn Ali (ra); "The Messenger of God has ordered us to wear the most beautiful clothes we have, the most aromatic perfumes we buy and to sacrifice the fattest animal we have on the two holidays." (History of Imam al-Hakim and al-Tabrani).

Imam Ibnul-Qayyim said; "The Prophet wore the most beautiful clothes of His Majesty on both holidays.

For people who want to go out only for the Eid prayer, does wearing new clothes only smell like circumcision?

no. They all circumcised, even those who lived in the house, because the holiday is the day of jewels (يوم الزينة). For those who have only one garment, bathing on holidays and Fridays is prohibited.

4. Crowds come to the place where the Eid prayer is offered

It is customary for Muslims, including women (young and old, married or single, holy or menstruating), to come out in groups to the place of prayer to say takbeer, listen to sermons and be prayed together during the holidays. Narrated by Umm Atijyeh;

"We (the women of the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him)) were ordered to go out (to the place of prayer) on the day of Eid and we took the girls out of the tent/cover (* i.e. we took our girls out together from the room to the place of prayer) and the menstruating women were behind the congregation together they went to their places; they read the takbeer along with their takbe, pray with their prayers and hope for the blessing and sanctity of that day" (History of Imam Bukhari).

Where are menstruating women placed?

When you have a certain idea, it is a beautiful happy day with crowded weather and happy people coming out of places of worship or mosques. According to Imam Nawawi; Their position is placed only at the door of the mosque. He saw the words of Rasulullah; "As for menstruating women, they only go to Muslim gatherings and pray together and sit apart from the place where the congregation will pray." (The story of Imam Bukhari from Umm Athiyeh (ra)

In another story; "Menstruating women should be behind the congregation where they recite the takbeer with them" (Umm Athiyya ra Imam Muslim and the story of Abu Dawud).

Should women come out?
Women who dress, wear and smell good should not go out. He saw the words of Rasulullah; "Do not prevent the servants of God (ie Muslim women) from visiting the houses of God. But let them go out without smell." (The story of Imam Ahmad and Abu Dawud)

If you're worried about defamation, should you get out? What happens to women after the death of their husbands?

If you are worried about being defamed, there is no need to go out. Likewise, a woman who worries about her husband's death should not go out.

Have you brought circumcised children with you?

Yes, we are the ones who reunite the circumcised children.

5. Go early to the place of prayer (except the priest)

It is to go early in the morning to the mosque or place of worship if the circumcised priest is not present at the time of the Eid prayer.

The priest is circumcised in order to participate earlier in the day of sacrifice - to correct the prayer, to be able to pray earlier and thus extend the time of sacrifice (since the circumcised sacrifice is interrupted after the priest finishes the feast). prayer). As for Hari Raya Fitra, the circumcised priest will miss some attendance to lead the prayer to give Muslims more time to pay the Fitra Zakat (as the Fitra Zakat is given before the Eid prayer).

6. Enjoy the prayer before going out (especially for Hari Raya Fitr)

Those who are circumcised on Eid al-Fitr eat some food before going to the mosque or the field to pray. Sea buckthorn is good to eat in single quantities. As for the day of Eid, he refused to eat the sacrifice of circumcision, so he returned home to offer the Eid prayer.

On the authority of Ibn Buraidah, his father (companion) said: "Verily, the Messenger of God did not go out after eating on the day of Fitr and did not eat on the day of sacrifice, but returned home." (The story of Imam Ibn Majah and Tirmidhi. This hadith was narrated by Imam Nawawi)

Enes also said; "Prophet Muhammad did not come out in the morning of Fitra, but after eating the seeds of the navy. His Majesty eats the navy with only one digit. (The story of Imam Bukhari)

7. Exit and take another route home

It is Sunnah to walk to a place of prayer or a mosque in a calm state. When he returns home, he is circumcised as before. Narrated by Ibn Umar; "The Messenger of God went out to pray the Eid prayer on foot and returned home on foot." (The story of Imam Ibn Majah)

Imam Bukhari narrates from Jabir; "The Prophet used to see his majesty in different ways (ie when he went in one direction and returned in another direction). From Ibn Umar; "Verily, the Messenger of God used to come home in one way (going out for prayer of Eid) in the days of Eid, and then in another way". (The story of Abu Dawud and Imam al-Hakim)

Among the lessons according to scholars; the two roads and the people around and the people of the jinn to testify and transmit Islam as well.

8. Give zakat al-fitra immediately before Eid prayer.

The Sunnah is to give Zakat al-Fitr before the Eid prayer. Ibn Omar reports; "Verily, the Messenger of God has ordered that the zakat of Fitr be paid before going to prayer on the morning of Eid." (The story of Imam Tirmidhi)

It is makruh on the part of the imams of the four madhhabs to give zakat al-fitra after prayer. In fact, there is such a view; unclean

9. Kurban (for Kurban Bayram)

For those who can afford it, it is recommended to sacrifice a goat or something similar on the days of sacrifice.

Narrated by Barra ibn Azib; "On the Day of Qurbani, when His Majesty was on holiday, Rasulullah Widi preached to us: "Verily, for us, the first thing we start the day after praying is to go home and perform the Qurbani (ie, the Eid prayer). .. " (Narrated by Imam Bukhari and Muslim history)

10. Say congratulations, cheers and give greetings

On Eid, it is recommended to think about birthdays with the arrival of Eid, to inspire joy and fun and to greet Muslim brothers. It is customary for friends to say congratulations on the arrival of the holiday, so it is prescribed. Al-Hafiz ibn Hajar said; We show a beautiful chain (hasan) of Jubayr ibn Nufayr. “When the friends of the Prophet saw each other at the feast, they said some things to the others; "May God accept it from us and from you." (Fatul-Bari' ala Soheh al-Bukhari)

As for Salema, it is based on a hadith abducted from the Prophet Muhammad; "Two Muslims do not meet, then they both shake hands, but before they part again, they both will forgive." (The story of Imam Abu Dawud from Anas with an authentic chain according to Imam Nawawi)

Regarding the excitement of the manifestation of joy, there is a hadith of the prophet that says; "Your brother's smile is charity for you." (The story of Abu Zar ra Imam al-Tirmidhi)

Is it necessary to perform circumcision before and after the Eid prayer?

1. The priest is forbidden to perform the circumcision prayer before and after the Eid prayer, as it is against the Sunnah of the Prophet. Ibn Abbas narrated; "Truly, the Messenger of God went out on the days of sacrifice and Fitra, and then he prayed two rak'ahs of circumcision prayer. His Highness has not forgiven either before or after.

In fact, when he comes to the mosque, he does not have to offer the Tahiyat al-Masjid prayer, he will continue to perform the Eid prayer. The Tahiyat al-Masjid prayer automatically generates the Eid prayer.

2. As for anyone other than the priest, it is not permissible to perform circumcision before and after the Eid prayer. Because this is not the time to stop praying. In addition, there is a story on the authority of Abu Barza that Anas r, Hasan r and Jabir ibn Zayd prayed on the days of Eid before the monk left.

Should you be happy during the holidays?

Circumcision should also be done, but it should not lead to forbidden things. It is said in the hadith of Anas, may Allah be pleased with him; When the Prophet (as) came from Madinah (after Hijra), the people of Madinah had a great celebration for two days and welcomed him with games. The king asked them; "What day do you welcome?" They answered; "We welcomed him (playing) for two days in the time of ignorance." The Prophet saw a feast for them; "Indeed, Allah has replaced two days better than two days for you. Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Fitr. (The story of Imam Abu Dawud and Nisain with an authentic document).

Imam As-Sonani made a conclusion based on the above hadiths in the book "Subulus-Salam"; This hadith is evidence that joy appears when the holiday is circumcised and that it is between God's law and His slaves. The only thing that is closed is because of holidays. As for the custom of greeting that they did, which is playing games (showing fun and excitement), the Prophet did not touch it. This shows that Hari Rayan is essential. However, it must be ensured that there are no disobedient and prohibited elements in that Association. (Subulus-Salam, vol. 1, Ch. Sulatul-Idajan).

Is it necessary to sing and hear cheers during the holidays?

Yes, provided that drinking and partying are free from immorality and vice. Sheikh Ali al-Shobuni said; "Since holidays are days of fun and joy for children, adults, men and women, Syarak aims to create joy in the hearts of all people and has organized pure fun and games without immoral elements. They can feel the grandeur and beauty of the holidays ."

Sayedina Aisya said; "Abu Bakr entered, two slave girls of the Ansar who were with me, who were reciting to each other (ie the Aus and the Khazraj) the verses/sayings that the Ansar (between the two tribes) had uttered during the Battle of Bu'at. Aisha explained; nobody is a singer. (Seeing this) Abu Bakr said: "Are the satanic ropes of the Prophet's family?" That day is a holiday. Rasulullah said: "O Abu Bakr, indeed, every community has a festival and this is our festival." (The story of Imam Bukhari and Muslim)

Takbir on Hari Raya

What is the argument for saying takbeer in Hari Rejan?

Among the testimonies is a story of Umm Atijah (ra) who said: "We (women) are invited to the street (the place of prayer) on the day of Eid to bring out the girls from the umbrella/cover (*ie bring out the girls ours from the room to gather them) (prayer) and menstruating women should leave their seats behind the congregation, say takbeer along with their takbeer, pray along with their prayers, hoping for blessing and sanctity day. (The story of Imam Bukhari)

Who is circumcised with takbeer?

The takbeer of the Sunnah is for men and women, children (those who are Memejiz) and adults and people who are in the country or currently traveling. This includes men who are menstruating or menstruating. (al-Majmu, 5/42).

Is it sunnah to raise your voice when giving takbeer?

During the reading of the takbeer, he is circumcised aloud to read the religious verse. This was said by Nafi;

Ibn Umar used to grow old on the day of Eid in Kurban and Fitr and he used to raise his voice.
"Did this Ibn Omar say takbeer on Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Fitr? He said and raised his voice. (The story of Imam Darkutni and Al-Bayhaqi)

But apart from women; they should say takbeer in a low voice. The author explains in the book "Kifajat al-Akhyar"; "Raising the voice with takbeer is circumcision only for men, not for women." (See page 151)
How many types of Hari Raya Takbir are there?

There are two types of takbirs in Eid;

1. Takbir Mursal or Muslak (المرسل او المتلق) is a takbir that does not bind any circumstances, which is said loudly from the main streets, mosques, bazaars, houses, etc., in the afternoon or evening.

2. Takbir Mukajad (المقيد) which is said only after performing the prayer (be it the obligatory prayer, funeral or circumcision).

When does Takbir Mursal start and end?

The mursal takbir or muslak begins as soon as the sun sets on the eve of Eid (Eid al-Fitr or the Day of Sacrifice) and continues until the priest begins reciting the takbir to lead the Eid prayer. The Word of God;

وَلِتُكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ وَلِتُكَبِّمن
"... and complete the number of fasts (menstruations of Ramadan) and say takbeer before God and be grateful that you have received His guidance." (al-Baqarah, 185)

Scientists said; The above verse is proof of the Sunnah to say Takbeer on the day of Fitr and to tell on the day of sacrifice.

When does takbeer Mukajad start and end?

a) The Takbeer for Kurban Bayram begins with the morning prayer on the day of Arafat (ie 9 Dhul-Hijjah) after the Asr prayer on the last effective day (ie the fourth Eid).

Ali and Ammar have narrated this; "Indeed, the Prophet used to recite the takbeer after the Fajr prayer, starting on the day of Arafat, and after the Asr prayer on the last day of Tasirig, he used to forbid it (ie, he used to forbid the takbeer). (History of Imam. Hakim. Imam According to Hakim, this hadith is authentic)

b) For Eid al-Fitr Eid begins with the evening prayer on the eve of Eid and ends after the morning prayer on the morning of Eid.

Is the takbeer after the zikr of the Eid prayer or before it?

Reading the takbeer after reading the Mukajad takbeer is higher than the dhikr. As for Takbeer Mursel, reading dhikr after prayer is better than reading it. (See: al-Kifaya Li Zawil-Inayah, p. 85)

Is the word circumcision?

Scholars have two views;

The first review (Imam Ahmadi); It is the pronunciation;

Try what to do and what to do and what to do and what to do

That is, saying the takbeer (الله اكبر) is called a prayer only once. This word is based on the story of Ibn Omar and Ibn Masud. Imam Ibn Abi Shaiba narrates from Abiul-Aswadi what he said; "Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, may the glory and peace of Allah be upon him, starts reciting takbeer from the prayer on the day of Arafat until the Asr prayer on the day of Nahr (ie, the feast of sacrifice);
Try what to do and what to do and what to do
(According to Shaykh Shu'ayb al-Arnaudh and Shaykh Abdul-Qadier al-Arnaudh; the narrators of this hadith are Tsiga. See; Zadul-Maad, vol. 1, p. 449, fasl Hadyihi see fil-'Idain).

The second view (the Shafi'ite sect); is the pronunciation;

Try what to do, what to do and what to do
"God is great, God is great, God is great. There is no God but God. God is the greatest. God is the greatest. Praise be to God."

That is, the pronunciation of takbeer (الله اكبر) is said three times. According to Imam Abi Ishaq al-Sirazi, saying the takbeer three or three times is based on a story by Ibn Abbas (al-Muhazzab, surah takbeer). Imam Ibn Hajar; "Indeed, Ibn Abbas and Jabir recited the takbeer three or three times with a weak art, as reported by Imam al-Darukutni. And Imam Ibn Abd al-Barr said: "Umar, Ali and Ibn Mas'ud- There is a believable. the story of saying the takbirs three times (Allah Akbar; Allah Akbar; Allah Akbar). (See: Dr. Mahmud Matrexhi's opinion on the book Tahqiq/al-Majhmu', chapter takbir, 5/36. See also: Nailul-awsar, 3/315).

Imam al-Safi likes to add the above takbeer to his book Al-Umm after thinking about it three times;

"God is great in majesty. rye is much praise for God. Praise is due to God in the morning and in the evening. There is no God but God. Even if we hate the disbelievers, we worship none but Him when we are sincere. in religion to Him alone. There is no god but God. He fulfilled his promise, helped his slave, and defeated the allied armies (with his power). There is no god but God. God is the Greatest."

This addition, according to Imam Abu Ishaq al-Sirazi's book al-Muhazzab, was taken from the Prophet's dhikr when he was on the hill of Sai Safa. (al-Majmu, 5/36).

God bless you.
